Physician Advisor Director

Dr. Ryan Greiner is the System Medical Director for Case Management and Utilization Management at North Memorial Health (NMH), an urban health system centered around their flagship Level 1 Trauma Center in Robbinsdale Minnesota.  In his nearly decade long career at NMH, he has led key strategic initiatives around provider group management, revenue cycle performance improvement, patient flow optimization, implementation of clinical and revenue cycle IT infrastructure, utilization management redesign, and physician advisor program development.

Dr. Greiner was trained as a hospitalist and internal medicine physician at the University of Minnesota and received his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine.  He also holds a degree in Healthcare Administration and Policy from Creighton University and is board certified in Internal Medicine.

As a System Medical Director, Dr. Greiner derives his skills and experience from several large multi-year projects at North Memorial Health.  He led the transition of the NMH Maple Grove hospitalist program from an affiliate to an employed group.  He designed and implemented a Medical and Psychiatric observation unit at NMH Hospital. During the COVID pandemic he led the hospitalist system response culminating in a transition of the NMH Hospital hospitalist group from an affiliate to employed group, a 50+ FTE project that Dr. Greiner designed from the ground up, including pro-forma development, hiring, and clinical practice model development.  Finally, through a detailed analysis of the utilization management program and its vendor relationship, he successfully demonstrated the value of a NMH physician advisor program, concluding in a fully implemented internal physician advisor program and UM system redesign.
